7 Months Later

So I have been so bad about updating this thing....Working, being a mom, and a wife takes up a lot of time. I also have been procrastinating when it comes to this. Alot has happened in 7 months in the Hellum household. Maddie is now 13 months and has grown like a weed. Over the last 7 months we have had colds, ear aches, crawling, teeth, first steps, 1st Birthday, and now the chicken pox.

Maddie has been walking since Mother's day. What a present to get my baby's first steps. Now she is none stop. She runs through the house chasing the dogs who don't appericate that she is now moblie.

In June we had her first birthday. A group of friends and family who were here to celebrate our Maddie. She enjoyed her ture birthday Thursday June 11th I think more then the birthday party. She got a cupcake and gram Curtis spoiled her rotten with a "flinstone car". We had her big party that Saturday June 13. She wasn't sure of what to think of all the people and ended up falling asleep in the middle of the party. It doesn't seem possible that a year has come and gone so quickly. It is true that time flies when you have a little one in the house.

Of course with all good times there comes sad times. My grandmother fell ill a month before Maddie's birthday. She fell, broke her hip, and then had a bad stroke. Maddie got to spend one more month with her great grandmother. On one the happiest days of my life came a sad tragedy my grandmother passed away on June 11th, 2009. I had hoped that she would last through the night so it wouldn't be on Maddie's birthday as I didn't want her special day related to her great-grandmother's passing. I know Maddie will never remember her but at least she got to meet her.

So this week we are on vacation and a goal of mine is to update this blog every day! We shall see if it happens.

Snow Day

Yesterday we got a ton of snow. Not to mention we got a few more inches dumped on us over night. Once we got the driveway cleared out I thought it would be a fun day to do some sledding. The sad part is the 30 degree weather we are getting right now feels like a heatwave. Maddie had a blast she was giggling the entire time I ran around the driveway.

Time for Cake!

I have come a long way as a new mom. In the beginning you wash everything and make sure they don't get anything until the doctor says it okay. Then there comes a point where you ease up. Over the weekend Maddie got her first taste at chocolate cake!

Sleepy Girl

This past weekend we went to Conn to celebrate our niece's 3rd birthday. Maddie had to keep up on her power naps to make it through the weekend.

The Best Present Ever

The best present I got was well Maddie of course! But this year it was all about Maddie and well what do you buy a 6 month old? Since Dad is retired and likes to makes things, I asked him to make Maddie a toy box. Well I never said any more about it and didn't see him making anything so I didn't think much of it. Mom and I found a sled for her in Portland and I knew she got Maddie some clothes. So the day of Christmas dad was like lets go see what Maddie is getting and I was like I know she is getting a sled. Mom was like nope we have a surprise for her. So when got to my parents we found that dad had made her a toy box that was beautiful. He made it out of birds eye maple and did a fabulous job! He had spent two months building it and was finishing it up Christmas morning. He doesn't like how her name came out but I think it is cute. The best part of it is this is something she can have forever. She can always say my grandfather made this for me for my first Christmas. I have always been Daddy's girl but I think Maddie is starting to take over :)

Christmas at Gram & Gramp's

To end out Christmas day we opened presents at my parents house. It was the best stop of the day! Maddie was getting cranky because she hadn't really napped and was getting hungry by this point.

Christmas at Great Grammy's

Ever since I was a little girl I would wake up real early and do everything possible to wake dad so we could open presents. Once we opened presents at my house we would go to Gram Thurlow's house to open presents and have a giant lunch. It is the one time of year we all get together no matter where we are in the world. Though we are missing a few people who watch us from above I am happy to start this tradition with my little girl. She got a little spoiled here by her grandmothers, aunts, uncle, and grandfather.

The day finally got to her!

What do we have here gram?

I would love some crackers thank you!
